In her speech, the Vice President ratified Cuba's position of "invariable solidarity with the Saharawi people, and support for the search for a definitive response to the question of Western Sahara that allows the exercise of the right to self-determination and to live in peace in its territory."

Besides her participation in the event, the Vice President carried out a parallel program of activities that included her participation in the 31st anniversary of the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale commemoration in Freedom Park and meetings with the main political and governmental authorities of South Africa, including with the President Cyril Ramaphosa on March 25.

On that occasion, President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed that South Africa's gratitude to Cuba for having contributed to the overthrow of the apartheid regime will never be enough and ratified the support of the South African government in the Cuban battle against the financial, economic and commercial blockade that United States maintains against Cuba.
